Saturday, August 22nd , 2020 at 03.00 pm. – MOCA BANGKOK holds an exhibition “Vichoke Mukdamanee: Lives in Mixed Media”
The exhibition aims to commemorate Professor Emeritus Vichoke Mukdamanee, 2012 National Artist in Visual Art (Mixed Media). The artist is widely considered one of the unique artists, a dedicated art lecturer, and an influential figure in the Thai contemporary art world. Professor Emeritus Vichoke Mukdamanee brought familiar objects, such as ropes, wood panels, papers, plastic and ceramics and assemble them with feelings like how a song of life portrayed one’s appreciation of the worldly aesthetics. His works reflected happiness, sadness, care, and joy from his memorable moments. They were the moments when feelings emerged in his heart, when he saw the change of society, nature, and environment, and when our civilizations were driven by technology. The artworks created during his later period were even richer, while his contribution to the public as a national artist was not less. He happily worked on his art with all of his heart. Sadly, on June 7th, 2020, Thai contemporary art world lost the important artist at the age of 67. To commemorate the artist, MOCA BANGKOK is exhibiting his various series of works total 55 pieces to the public with the great expectation that this can bring good awareness of life value. We hope “Lives in Mixed Media” can represent love and goodwill from the artist and give them to everyone living at present, encourage all of us to live with ambition, and never give up because of anything. We hope everyone will tirelessly keep walking to reach their goals, similar to the rhythm that is still alive in the artworks by Professor Emeritus Vichoke Mukdamanee.
