Description

Only 100 pieces of limited edition print of Dream Land 2 , was printed to the highest standards on the finest acid-free, lignin-free on 100 % fine art paper. Each print was hand signed and numbered by the artist. This fine art print was created from an original painting by artist during the lifetime.

Dream Land 2, on the other hand, is a complete escape from reality. Here, Prateep illustrates his ideal dream world, an idyllic island populated by, besides himself, an endless number of seductive, voluptuous woman; a fantasyland in which everything he needs is literally growing on trees, which bear jars of wine as fruit. While this unabashed escapism is obviously little more than fantastic wish fulfilment impossible for real life to satisfy, it is equally doubtless that it is a sign of his ardent struggle for existence, to attain the seemingly unattainable. Dream Land also stands as a signpost pointing to the direction next to be taken by the artist: squarely towards the “Nude” series to be presented two years later.

Additional Information

Prateep Kochabua
Prateep Kochabua is an extraordinary artist who is blessed with the ability to portray visions from the imagination and who is able to distort the boundaries between animal and human form, plus the real and other worlds, so that cultural superstitions and spiritual values blend harmoniously into the composition of his truly amazing canvases. He captures effortlessly the sensuous poses of voluptuous females entwined within a surreal backdrop of the natural and supernatural worlds, worlds in which he secretes his masterful self-portrait in contemplative observation. Despite his undeniable talent for original creativity, he is also able to create almost  photographically an endearingly compelling rendition of rural community life across all generations as they share jovial times in relaxation from a waterside sala.

Making Prateep’s accomplishments all the more extraordinary is that although he was born a Bangkokian in 1948 he has acquired an affinity to, and an ability to reveal, the basic earthiness of nature in lucidly accurate detail. In fact, one might say he is gifted with an eloquence within his brushstrokes that brings his work on a par with classical masters. His works are illuminated with sensitivity and cleverly accentuated moods, both light and dark, within the same composition. Driven by an inner passion and original creative force, no two works are similar and each is a unique statement from the artist’s heartand imagination. Although all of his works are justifiably accredited highly, it is his series of seven paintings entitled Travelling to the Next Life, begun in 2006 and completed in 2011, that cement his reputation as a master of the surreal and fantasy, positioning him as a contemporary artist of great importance.
