Chao Praya River 2

Technique :  Oil on Canvas

Size :  240×450 cm.

A belief in “Ganga”— the goddess of the Ganges River who gives life and fertility— has been transferred to a belief in Chao Phraya River. Deities and symbols present the culture that comes along 4 tributaries— Ping, Wang, Yom, and Nan Rivers— flowing from the north until they mingle and become only 1 river called Chao Phraya River. Art and culture have reflected Sukhothai, Ayuddha, and Rattanakosin periods. History, beliefs, architecture, and Devis’ realistically beautiful adornments are studied here.
