Indra at Travatimsa Heaven

Indra at Travatimsa Heaven

Technique :  Acrylic on Canvas

Size :  89×119 cm.

Year : 1993

Indra is a king of devas (or deities) in the Tavatimsa heaven. He is still in Samsara (a round of rebirth) and wants to release himself from it. The painting represents Indra riding an elephant called Erawan which is flying above Anotata pond (or Anodard pond). Lotuses represent Dharma for the sake of the extrication of Samsara. This painting is unique because it is the only painting that Master Chalermchai Kositpipat experimented with a color of gold which is difficult to be used in painting.
