Monument of Ashoka the Great

Technique :  Acrylic on Canvas

Pillars of Ashoka were erected in historic Buddhist sites in order to propagate Buddhism. When the mind is overwhelmed with the Buddha’s teachings or Dharma, it becomes “ashoka” or unsorrowful. The Buddhist teachings are compared to gorgeous bravery like a fabulous lion. The Wheel of Dharma and a lotus on each pillar imply Dharma and Buddhists. The pillars are a symbol of the announcer and the philosophy is that a true triumph is the triumph of Dharma.
